Luis Suarez’s heartbreaking confession: “I can’t play with my son and I inject myself…”

Luis Suárez has been competing against the passage of time and his own body for years . Already during his time at Barcelona, his knee began to affect his performance, but he refused to give up.

Suárez underwent surgery several times to try to reduce his discomfort, but his knee never functioned as before again . Now, 36 years old and in the final stretch of his career, he has openly acknowledged that he can only compete by taking drastic measures.

“The nights before the games I take three pills and before the game I inject myself with Voltaren, if I don’t do that I can’t play ,” he explained on ‘100% Deporte’, on Radio 890 Sport in Uruguay.

The forward explained the deterioration process of his knee over the years. “On the inside I have cartilage wear and tear and that hits the bone. It doesn’t generate fluid because I couldn’t even move it, but it gets stuck and I can’t even bend it.” Suárez suffers from what is popularly known as osteoarthritis in his knee, a degenerative disease that causes pain every time he plays soccer.

” On the outside of my knee I have tension that I had left over from surgery in 2020 when I was in Barcelona . In the last stage of recovery the pandemic came and I had to do exercises on my own and I couldn’t finish stretching my knee,” he remembered as one of the reasons for the evolution of his illness.

During the interview, Suárez assured that seeing him some mornings few people would think that he could still play football. “ It’s hard for me to play with my son ,” he lamented. The Uruguayan recently put an end to his time at Gremio, but he still wants to live one last adventure at Inter Miami alongside Messi.
