Inter Miami player scores a stunning free-kick goal.. but Messi is angry (VIDEO)

Lionel Messi expressed his dismay at Major League Soccer’s strange new rule by speaking directly to the camera while at Montreal’s match on Saturday.

The new rule requires players to stay off the field for two minutes if they are injured during the match and for the medical team to intervene to help them.

The Inter Miami star was the victim of this strange rule on Saturday when his team lost 2-0 to its Canadian counterpart. While standing in front of the camera, Messi spoke.

“With this type of rule, we are going in the wrong direction,” the former Barcelona star said in the 43rd minute of the match.

The rule prevents players from wasting time by faking injuries on the field. However, it can also be used to strategically keep the other team’s best players off the field – Messi is a good example of this.

However, with Messi off the field, Matias Rojas took the free kick for Messi from about 50 yards out and scored a fantastic goal. By executing a free-kick that would normally fall to Messi’s foot, Rojas was able to spark a comeback for Huron’s side.

Luis Suarez equalized in the third minute of stoppage time before the end of the first half.

After the break, Benjamin Cremaci put Inter Miami ahead with a goal in the 59th minute, ending the match 3-2 for Messi’s teammates.

Inter Miami remains at the top of the Eastern Conference with 27 points. The Hirons will remain on the road to face Orlando City on May 15 and look to extend their winning streak to six games.
