Barca player apologizes for causing the defeat against Girona: “It was my fault”

Barcelona suffered a severe loss to its host, Girona, with a score of 4-2 in the match that was held between the two teams today, Saturday, at Montilivi Stadium in the 34th round of the Spanish Premier League.

With this result, Real Madrid officially won the La Liga title, as it leads the competition standings with 87 points, 4 rounds before the end, while Barcelona (73 points) fell to third place behind Girona (74 points), which secured qualification for the Champions League next season.

Barcelona started the match with a formation consisting of: Ter Stegen – Kounde, Araujo, Cobarci, Cancelo – Gundogan, Sergi Roberto, Christensen – Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez and Lewandowski.

The match witnessed an exciting turn in the 65th minute when Girona players took advantage of a fatal mistake by Sergi Roberto and scored the equalizer, then completely took control of the match and ended it with four goals.

Regarding this mistake, Sergi Roberto apologized to everyone after the match: “Until the 65th minute, we were superior. We were playing a good game. But what makes me angry is that, after a mistake on my part, they tied with us. I have to apologize to the team. “We do not deserve this result and we leave angry.”

He added: “The match was under our control, and we controlled it. In the second half we took the lead a few times, but they were quicker, with the transitions. We tried, but we couldn’t. “It hurt us because it wasn’t fair.”

He concluded: “Now we no longer depend on ourselves to obtain second place to qualify for the Super Cup. We have to win the remaining matches and wait for Girona to lose.”
