Barça is immersed in the search for a new coach although they will take their time before making a strategic decision for the future of the Blaugrana entity. Both the Board of Directors and the sporting director, Deco, already have a priority list of coaches but the club has received many offers since Xavi announced his departure at the end of the season.
Many coaches want to coach Barça despite the financial problems that the entity is considering and one of the offers has been that of Antonio Conte. In principle, the Italian would not be currently on the preferential list being handled, although nothing has been decided.
Antonio Conte is, without a doubt, one of those considered ‘top’ coaches on the market. And his experience in big clubs is immense. He has been, among others, on the benches of Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Tottenham and was coach of the Italian team in a period that lasted two years.
The Italian coach has not trained since last March when he left Tottenham with a mutual agreement with the club as they had different criteria regarding the project to follow. Conte’s greatest achievements are in Italian football where he managed to win the league at both Juventus and Inter Milan. He has also managed to win a Premier League with Chelsea although the Champions League has always eluded him.
Conte would be willing to listen to Barça in the event that his portrayal as a coach fits with what the Blaugrana club is looking for, but for now no steps have been taken in this regard. Barça seems to, for now, prioritize the German route and the big dream is to try to tie Jurgen Klopp on a long-term basis, something that will be really complicated.
The club has alternatives and so does the sports director, although what seems clear is that the club continues to be very attractive to high-level coaches, who are willing to take the step to lead a new winning project.
