Pep Guardiola gave clues about his possible retirement in the previous statements he made before the match against Aston Villa and which ended with Manchester City’s defeat (1-0).
“If Manchester City wins the treble this season, I will retire. That’s for sure,” said the Catalan coach on Amazon TV in an attempt to take pressure off his team about the obligation to win the Premier, Cup and Champions League again .
The City manager acknowledged the difficulty of the challenge: “I know it is extremely difficult with the incredible teams there have been in England, and only one, Manchester United with Sir Alex Ferguson , did it, and ourselves last season.”
Guardiola did show his confidence in City achieving its fourth consecutive Premier League , despite the fact that the citizen team is fourth in the Premier League, six points behind the leader Arsenal.
But Guardiola is convinced that his players will reach their best level when the important dates on the calendar arrive to win their fourth consecutive Premier League.
“We feel that we are going to do it again, knowing that it is not easy because no team has done it yet … The difficulty is there and it was last season, but if you ask me today what I feel, we will do it again,” he said.
