The Catalan newspaper El Nacional confirmed that the Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola, has devised a plan to kidnap one of Barcelona’s most prominent players, whom the club is counting on to create a new era similar to the Messi era.
Barcelona is building a new project under the leadership of Xavi Hernandez amid a crisis financial situation that does not help Joan Laporta sufficiently strengthen the team and also makes the task of preserving its stars more difficult due to the financial strength enjoyed by many European teams, led by Manchester City.
According to El Nacional newspaper, Guardiola tried last summer to transfer Lamine Yamal to Manchester City, but the young player refused and preferred to stay in Barcelona.
The same newspaper says that Guardiola has drawn up a plan to try to sign Yamal in the future, as the Catalan coach wants the young player to stay with Barcelona until 2025, that is, one year before the end of his contract with Barcelona.
Then Manchester City will take advantage of the contractual situation and try to tempt him with a salary greater than what he receives at Barcelona, which may be forced to agree to sell its new star instead of losing him for free in 2026.
