Once the first medical tests had been carried out, FC Barcelona issued a medical statement confirming the Dutchman’s injury to “the distal tibioperoneal syndesmosis of the right ankle” .
This is the official medical report of FC Barcelona:
“The tests carried out tonight have shown that first team player De Jong suffers an injury to the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis of his right ankle. It is low and its evolution will determine his availability.”
According to this recovery schedule, the midfielder would not return until the national team break, which could mean that he would not be available for El Classico on October 28 against Real Madrid at the Montjuïc stadium starting at 4:15 p.m. late. The match will correspond to the eleventh league matchday.
