The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo said that work is in full swing within the corridors of FC Barcelona to sign a replacement for Osman Dembele, who decided to leave and sign a 5-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona, which is taking cautious steps in the Mercato due to the financial crisis it is suffering from and also due to the laws of financial fair play, has already notified La Liga that it is about to make a big deal.
Sources inside the Catalan club confirmed to Mundo Deportivo that Barcelona is seeking to sign Bernardo Silva, the Manchester City midfielder, at any cost this summer, after attempts that lasted for more than three years.
The deal may seem complicated, given the importance of Bernardo Silva to Manchester City, who crowned the world with a historic hat-trick. But the Portuguese player’s desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt and Guardiola’s former promise that he would not force a player to stay in his team if he wanted to leave, increases Barcelona’s chances of completing the long-awaited deal.
For his part, the journalist close to the Camp Nou, Gerard Romero, said that Barcelona had already informed the League of Liga that he would sign with Bernardo Silva a contract for three seasons in addition to an optional fourth season during which the Portuguese player would receive 11 million euros net annual salary.
This salary would put Bernardo Silva in the second row of Barcelona’s salary scale after Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong, so the Catalan club warned La Liga before completing the deal so that it would not face problems in fair financial play.
