Xavi Hernandez made a quick decision about the young player, Fermin Lopez, immediately after the El Clásico friendly match, in which Barcelona won 3-1, in the preparatory round in the United States of America.
Firmin Lopez participated for 30 minutes in the second half of the match and made the difference as he scored a missile goal against Courtois and set up the third goal, which Ferran Torres scored in a wonderful way.
After the match, Xavi was asked about Fermin Lopez and confirmed that the coaching staff had decided to keep him in the first team next season.
The Catalan coach said: He is a football player that I love. He’s got access, he’s got a great last pass. He has the ability to shoot from outside the area. So it is up to him. I do not put any obstacles in front of the players to reach the first team.
He added, “Fermin has talent. Control both legs. He can play in both midfield and left wing positions. He is hungry and anxious. And when I see that in training, I give him the chance to play more.”
And he ended: “I always tell them (young people) that this depends on their mentality. You have to give the player confidence and I like what I see. Today Fermin made a difference. He can help us a lot in the first team next season.”
