Since the founding of the club, Barcelona has been home to some of the best Brazilian players. Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Neymar Jr. are just a few of the soccer-loving nation’s stars who have donned the Blaugrana shirt.
Raphinha is the latest in a long list of Brazilian strikers in Catalonia. However, with Barcelona targeting a Brazilian striker as their next big signing, there could be more samba players in the squad next season.
Earlier today, Raphinha spoke to Sport about Barcelona’s new transfer target, Vitor Roque, and had nothing but praise for the Atletico Paranaense star’s quality on the pitch.
“I hope he is my teammate at Barcelona.” That’s how clear Raphinha expressed himself , having become the first footballer in the Blaugrana squad to openly bet on the signing of Vitor Roque, the 18-year-old center forward from Ath Paranense who dazzles the technical secretariat.
The gaucho winger analyzed his compatriot this last morning when he was the guest of the ‘Boleiragem’ program broadcast by the Sportv channel in his country.
“With Vitor Roque, we’re talking about a high-quality footballer, who is showing in Brazil why Barcelona thinks of him and also the Brazilian team”, explained ‘Rapha’, who is in his country together with his family enjoying your vacation period.
For Raphinha, the quality of ‘Tigrinho’ is unquestionable : “There is nothing more fair than talking about a great footballer like he is, with great projection, who has a lot to give.” And he predicts a spectacular future for him: “I think he can go a long way in world football” .
‘Rapha’ believes that the current ‘9’ from Furacao’ has the ideal game profile to reach Barcelona and end up playing an important role.
“The born center forward, the one who only throws a wall and scores goals, is beginning to be extinguished from football and many teams use the ‘9’ as a false ‘9’. And, Vitor Roque, due to his age, has this feature of being much more mobile, which is very important not only for him but for the team ,” he said.
For this reason, he is convinced that if the transfer of ‘Tigrinho’ ends up being finalized, “it will help Barça a lot, and it will also help me who plays on the wing “.
Complementary to Lewandowski
Raphinha sees Vitor Roque sharing a dressing room with Lewandowski. ” It’s a natural law of life and of football. There comes a time when great players leave room for youngsters,” he said, stressing the importance of the Polish striker at Barça.
“Robert still has a lot of football to give. He had a great season in his first year at Barça, he was the striker in LaLiga and if he didn’t score more goals it was only due to lack of luck”, he added .
The Brazilian international considers that ‘Lewa’ is an example to follow for the Blaugrana dressing room, mainly for the younger footballers as is the case of ‘Tigrinho’.
“What pleasantly surprised me about Lewandowski is to see, after everything he has achieved, his desire to win even more, to win more titles and to always give himself to the maximum,” he said .
“Sometimes many young people are too lazy to do that complementary training and Robert is always there working and showing how one has to give everything”, he concluded.
