Pep Guardiola responded to statements made by Xavi some time ago, during which he accused the Manchester City administration of deliberately not having one of its players arrive at Barcelona in the last winter Mercato.
Guardiola is present in the “Champions Cup” golf tournament, which is being held in its fifth edition in Barcelona, in the presence of Juan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona.
Xavi had accused the Manchester City administration of deliberately not loaning Joao Cancelo to the Catalan team, preferring to transfer him to Bayern Munich: “We were offered to borrow Joao Cancelo and things were going well, but Manchester City did not want to loan him to us.”
In response, Guardiola said: “I read Xavi’s statements, he was misleading (he got incorrect information). Nothing like that. The truth is he had to leave and we don’t care where he goes, even if he goes to Manchester United.
“Cancelo’s departure will depend on the city, the player and the club he wants. I don’t know why he didn’t sign for Barcelona, because no offer came from Barcelona”.
