Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami is far from over, but his close friend and former teammate Sergio Aguero is already teasing him about his team’s future performance this season.
Despite reaching the semi-finals of the US Cup on Wednesday night, Inter Miami are struggling in the league so far after 16 games played this season.
The club currently occupies the last place in the Eastern Group, with only 15 points, as it received 11 losses, compared to achieving only five victories.
And Aguero realizes that Messi will face a difficult race to enter Miami into a safe zone of relegation, as he told ESPN: “I spoke to Messi yesterday, and I sent him a message with a screenshot of the arrangement of the eastern group of the American League and I told him:“ Your team is in last place! You have to move him to the eighth/ninth place!”
Aguero said Messi was shocked and said, “We have to go up to the playoffs!”
Under the new NBA format, the top seven teams in each group advance to the first round of the playoffs, while the eighth and ninth seeds advance to a playoff.
It was announced that Messi’s first match at Inter Miami will be on July 21 in the American League Cup
